I run my own product business and I’ve worked with hundreds of UK soap and skincare business owners as a certified business strategist. I know the real world challenges this industry brings and I’ll help you move beyond ‘natural and handmade’ to build a brand that truly sells.

I didn’t start out as a business mentor and strategist. In fact, I spent nearly 25 years working as a police officer, a job that taught me a lot about resilience, problem solving and getting things done.

But like many of you, I wanted to create more flexibility in my life, especially as my children were growing up. So alongside my police work, I trained as a dog groomer so I could be at home more. That opened the door to my first product based business creating and selling grooming products for dogs. (And I still run it today - The Dog and I)

From there, I discovered a love of making products, and began teaching others how to do the same and founded this business, The Soap Coach. Over time, I saw that what so many makers needed wasn’t just product recipes. it was clear, practical support to turn their passion into a real business.

That’s where we are now.

And I built all of this, from launching a dog grooming product business to running my own product brand and this business mentoring company - after the age of 44 and within 10 years of first learning to groom dogs.

Three businesses in 10 years, and two of them are still going strong today. I no longer groom dogs, there are only so many hours in the day!

So if you’re sitting there thinking 'Is it too late? Can I do this around my job, my family, my life?' I’m here to tell you yes, you can.

I know what it’s like to juggle multiple roles, to learn new skills later in life, and to build something on your own terms. If I can do it so can you.

Now, as an experienced product maker and certified business strategist, I help other makers navigate this challenging industry with clarity and confidence.
And I do this alongside my own product business, because I believe it’s important to stay connected to the real world realities of running one.

To be honest, building a soap or skincare business isn’t easy. It’s a regulated, competitive market - and it takes a business head to succeed.

Enthusiasm is a great place to start - but enthusiasm alone isn’t enough.

I don’t teach theory. I teach what works, based on real world experience, both my own and that of the hundreds of businesses I’ve now helped.

My style is no fluff, practical and actionable - but always supportive and grounded in understanding that we all have different lives, different strengths and different ways of working.

I work with mainly UK based soap and skincare makers at all stages, from those just learning how to make products, to those thinking of turning it into a business, to established business owners ready to scale.

Many of my clients are women starting businesses later in life, juggling jobs, families, and all the realities of real life.
