Make My Simple Minty Foot Balm Recipe

Make My Simple Minty Foot Balm Recipe

I love a good balm - they are so versatile and incredibly easy to make yourself at home.

To celebrate the release of my latest eBook I wanted to share one of the recipes from it with you.

This simple minty foot balm is refreshing and leaves feet silky soft plus it doesn't need many ingredients at all.

It is the very same recipe that we made in last years Christmas Spa Box classes and the feedback was fantastic. This makes 100g of product but feel free to make half, double or whatever works for you.

Ingredients.

58 g Shea Butter
10 g Cocoa Butter
30 g Avocado Oil
1 g Vitamin E (you can use a few drops from a Vitamin E capsule)
1g Peppermint Essential Oil
You may find it helpful to pop this one in the fridge to set as it has no wax and takes a long time to harden up.

Equipment

Suitable jug or pan to melt your butters.

Small glass or ceramic pot to weigh your peppermint and vitamin E into.

Weighing scales (ideally jewellery scales as they are much easier to weigh small quantities on and you can get the for just a few pounds on Amazon)

Spoon to stir

Small glass pot or tins to decant your balm into. A clean, sterilised small condiment or jam jar is perfect.

Ideally a digital or jam thermometer so you can check your temperatures.

Method

  • Weigh all your ingredients except the Vitamin E and Peppermint Essential oil into either a microwaveable jug or a stainless steel pot that you can use on the stovetop.
  • Melt your butters and oil in short bursts in the microwave or carefully and gently on the stove top. Do not overheat but ideally you want to heat it to over 80c 175f.
  • If you have a bain marie you can use that instead, whichever method suits you best is fine.
  • Once melted keep it hot (above 80c) for 10 minutes or so to reduce the risk of a grainy balm when set. If you need to reheat it slightly this is fine.
  • Meanwhile weight your peppermint essential oil and vitamin E into a glass or ceramic pot (the essential oil will react with plastic)
  • After 10 minutes are up you can allow your melted oils to cool below 80c 175f and then stir in your peppermint and vitamin E before pouring into your jar or tin.
  • Leave to cool completely before popping the lid on.
  • This is a waxless balm so to speed up the setting process you can pop it in the fridge if you prefer.

Voila - massage into your feet.
