How to Boost Your Christmas Sales with Just One Simple Action - Bundles!
If you're running a business and feeling short on time, especially with Christmas around the corner, don’t worry. Today, I’m sharing the easiest way to increase your sales this festive season without creating a whole new range of products. Whether you're juggling multiple businesses or family life like me, or have a demanding day job along side, this one tip will help you boost your sales using products you already have!
Increase Sales with One Simple Action- Bundling
The secret to making more sales without a ton of extra effort is to increase your average order value (AOV). The easiest way to do this? Create bundles from your existing products.
We all love 'done for us' gift ideas, especially during the festive season when we are unsure of what to buy. By bundling products you already have, you're not only giving your customers ideas but also encouraging them to spend more in one go. Win-win!
How to Create the Perfect Bundles
The trick to successful bundling is to make sure your bundles are logical and purposeful. Look at your best-selling products and think about how they can be grouped together in a way that makes sense for your customers.
For example, in my own business (which is very much dog-focused), I’m creating a few kits this year. Here are some examples:
-
Curly Coat Care Kit This is perfect for people with Cockapoos, Labradoodles, and other poodle crossbreeds, which have high-maintenance coats. I’ve put together a conditioning shampoo, my "Tame Those Tangles" spray, and thrown in a seasonal balm to complete the set.
-
Nose, Paws, and Sores Kit This kit is perfect for winter, when dogs’ noses and paws can get dry and cracked. It includes a balm for noses and a soothing treatment for paws.
These are just my existing products, but bundled together in a way that makes sense for the season. All I’ve added is some packaging and a label with instructions.
Ideas for Your Own Bundles
Depending on your niche, the possibilities are endless. Think about what your customers might need
- A Night time Skincare Kit for a pampering routine.
- A Self-Care Spa Kit for a relaxing evening in.
- Gift sets for him, her, or even grandparents.
- Skincare bundles for specific skin types, like mature skin or teenage skin.
The goal is to make life easier for your customers by packaging products they already love into gift worthy sets. You’ve done all the hard work for them—no need for them to think twice about what to buy!
How to Price Your Bundles
Pricing can be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. It depends on your goals, your customer base, and how much effort you’re putting into the packaging.
In the past, I’ve added £1-2 to the price of my bundles, especially if I’ve used fancy gift boxes. These can elevate the perceived value of the set, making it feel more luxurious.
But this year, because I’m time-poor, I’ve decided to keep things simple. I’m using postal gift boxes—they’re cost-effective and don’t add much extra work. For instance, for my dog care bundles, I’m just popping a label on the front that says "Curly Coat Care Kit" or "Nose, Paws, and Sores Kit." Inside, I’m adding a bit of wadding and a simple "how to use" card.
If you want to add more luxurious packaging and charge more, that’s entirely up to you and your customer base. But keep in mind, the goal is ease and efficiency.
Time to Get It Out There
It’s mid-October already, so time is of the essence. Once you’ve created your bundles, don’t delay—get them out there! Here’s a quick checklist to help.
- Get your bundles ready – package them up, create labels, and include any "how to use" inserts.
- Take photos – you don’t need a professional setup, just make sure the lighting is good and the products are clear.
- Add them to your website – feature them prominently, either as a single product or a collection.
- Promote on social media – make sure your bundles are visible across all your platforms.
- Use your email list – tell your subscribers about your new bundles, and make it easy for them to buy with a direct checkout link.
Descriptions Matter
Don’t forget, your product descriptions need to be short, snappy, and appealing. Tell customers exactly what’s in the bundle and who it’s perfect for. If writing isn’t your strong suit, tools like ChatGPT (yes, I use it too!) can help you write the perfect copy. Then, reuse that text across your website, social media, and emails so you only have to write it once!
Limited Editions Create Urgency
One of the easiest ways to create urgency is to offer limited edition bundles. Whether it’s because you have limited stock or you won’t be making those products next year, let your customers know that once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Make It Easy for Customers to Buy
Lastly, you need to make it as easy as possible for your customers to purchase. Ensure your website has payment options like PayPal, because if customers don’t have their card handy, they might not complete the purchase if they can’t use PayPal.
If you can, offer quick checkout options. Some platforms even allow you to create direct “Buy It Now” links, which you can share in emails, Instagram stories, or Facebook posts. The easier you make it for your customers, the more likely they’ll buy.
Final Thoughts
If you haven’t started prepping for Christmas yet, don’t panic! Time is short, but with this simple strategy, you can still take advantage of the festive season and boost your sales with minimal effort. Just bundle up your best-selling products, make it easy for customers to buy, and get those Christmas sales rolling!
Good luck, and happy selling!
